Amy’s was another Horse & Rider Photo Shoot from July last year. Hers had been the victim of several wet days and failed attempts the previous Summer and Autumn! It was worth the wait though and I thoroughly enjoyed working with Amy and her two girls Katy & Skye.
Skye I could happily bring with me on all Photo Shoots! I’m pretty sure she absolutely loved the whole thing and was the perfect photo shoot pony! It also helps that I have a big soft spot for coloured mares but honestly she was so good!
Katy was a slightly different story! She went from dozing on the yard looking like butter wouldn’t melt to a dancing, prancing, snorting giant of a horse in about 2 seconds flat! To give her her dues, she’s still young and we / I had disrupted her routine and she was letting us know she wasn’t all that impressed!
We brought her swiftly back to her stable where she immediately returned to being a snoozy softie again. Phew! I felt it best to keep everything with Katy after that where she was still very much in her comfort zone and close to the stables.
Luckily the yard was particularly picturesque and we had a lovely overcast but bright day meaning we could use any backdrop/any angle and not have to worry about shadows or difficult light.
We ended up getting some great images with Katy and Skye was just a dream! We even got Amy’s other half to get in on a few of the photos and made it a proper family affair by involving the dogs too!
