At home with Bonnie.

In Horse and Rider Photo Shoots by Ciara Doone RushLeave a Comment

I am delighted to share the photos from the first in a series of shoots which I am embarking on with Bonnie Fishburn Eventing throughout 2015. Bonnie, an event rider based on the Cheshire/Shropshire border has a small string of fabulous eventers including 2 gorgeous homebreds and a very handsome (doesn’t he know it!) Dutch Warmblood ‘Frankie.’

I had the pleasure of photographing Bonnie at home with her horses (& dogs!) on a fabulously sunny late February morning in the lead up to the start of the 2015 eventing season. I will be following her progress throughout the season and am thoroughly looking forward to the shoots and excitement to come!

Any shoot is a real privilege, to enter into someones world, be it a few hours for a portrait shoot, a yard shoot lasting several days to encompass all aspects of an equestrian business, the documentation of a days competing or capturing the most special of days for a couple on their wedding day all allow unique insights into the lives and important times of the people and animals I photograph and it doesn’t get much more welcoming than at Bonnie’s with her herd of photogenic and eager animals!

First up was Frankie officially known as ‘San Francisco II,’ a 16.3hh Dutch Warmblood Intermediate Eventer who has recently come back into work and is very pleased about this!

Second up was the only mare of the herd who keeps the boys in check (obviously!) ‘Direct Flo’ otherwise know as Flo is a rising 9 year old home bred Thoroughbred x Trakehner x Hanoverian Eventer who certainly earns her dinner with Bonnie with regular placings at British Eventing Fixtures as well as Riding Club competitions and Championships.

Kisses, NOW please!

Helping with the tacking up!

Sadly the last horse we had time to photograph on this occasion (Crosby is having to wait for his turn until next time!) was Bonnie’s second home bred hero Percy or ‘Mr Precision’ to be precise! Percy was most definitely on a mission to win the carrot for being the most photogenic horse of the day and he is an undeniably handsome horse indeed! Half brother to Flo and just a year younger he’s a cheeky chap and I’m really looking forward to seeing him in action on one of our next shoots!

And then there were the dogs Betty and Dolly who were almost bigger posers than the horses!  BonnieAtHome-22

With huge thanks to Bonnie and her fabulous herd,
                                                                                              Ciara x
