Back in August 2015 I met Claire and Ian and their three adorable children at The Denbigh & Flint Country Show in North Wales. Perhaps not the most likely of places to meet potential Wedding clients but a good place nonetheless! I was delighted when Claire called me and asked if I could shoot their Wedding the following June and we arranged a gorgeous Spring Engagement/Family shoot on Ian’s families farm. You can see more from that session HERE.
The 4th of June 2016 came around quickly and I was soon cleaning my cameras, making to-do, to-be and to-remember check lists and packing bags of gear in anticipation of their big day. It was a gorgeous day for it, warm and bright with North Wales looking summery and as gorgeous as ever. I had a quick stop off at Ian’s to get a few shots and to try and find out from him what the mode of transport was going to be from the church to the reception as I had gathered from Claire that it was going to be a surprise! I didn’t have to work too hard to get it out of him though as upon arriving in their driveway I was greeted by a huge and very shiny tractor decorated with ribbons and ‘Just Married’ bunting…. I can now add ‘tractor’ to my ‘Unusual Wedding Transportation’ list which already includes a horse and a helicopter!
It was then a dash over to the Kinmel Hotel in Abergele to catch up with the girls before heading back to Bodfari church for the ceremony. Claire juggled being a beautiful bride and a fantastic Mum seamlessly and where most brides are battling with a few nerves or quite commonly their dress, Claire was as calm as could be, helping Sophie and Katie into their own dresses and shoes and at the last minute slipping into her own stunning dress and heading outside to a cold glass of prosecco! A true Wonder-Mum!
Back over at the church things were getting underway with a fabulous choir welcoming the guests. The ceremony itself was beautiful with one of Claire’s brothers and Sophie who’s only 7 getting up and performing a beautiful and unsurprisingly tear jerking duet. The signing of the register was overseen by the 18 month year old Harry playing peek a boo and there was great excitement among the kids present when it came to the confetti…… need I say anymore!
Their reception at the Kinmel was fantastic, full of laughter, highly embarrassing old photos on a slideshow and a well thought out and filmed quiz on Claire & Ian’s parenting skills which had been answered very truthfully (& lovingly) by Sophie, Katie & Harry earlier in the year!
It was an absolute privilege to be a part of and capture Claire & Ian’s big day and from their kids to the tractor it will certainly be a day that is treasured for a long time to come! I wish them all the happiness in the world as they embark on their married life together.
