Liz’s Horse At Liberty Photo Shoot, (which kind of turned into a Horse & Rider Photo Shoot!) last Summer is the next in my ‘Best of 2019’ blog series.
Liz hadn’t been sure at all about being involved in the Photo Shoot but knew she really wanted portraits on the black background of her two mares Tilly & Gypsy. I’d advised her on the phone to see how she felt on the day and as I always do, recommended she wore something she would be happy to be photographed in.
As with all Horse At Liberty shoots the focus is on the horses themselves but I always encourage the owners to get involved even if it’s just for 5 minutes. I always feel it’s a great opportunity with nothing to lose for the owner/rider. I realise the thought of being in front of the camera can be daunting but when you have your horses to take your focus of the camera it changes everything!
Liz’s shoot is the perfect example of this. I absolutely love how natural Liz ended up coming across on her photos and the moments captured between her and her girls are really really special.
We nailed the black background shots right at the start of the shoot and then spent a little while with Liz and the girls before turning them out at the end for a few moments of what quickly turned into ‘silly time!’
We had a few light showers to hide from but luckily ended up with the most gorgeous evening light to play with and had such a fun shoot! Holly who had organised the shoot in the first place and knew what to expect having had a shoot of her own a few years ago made an excellent assistant and did some fantastic jumping around and shaking of various objects to get ears forward! A key role on any Photo Shoot!
I hope you enjoy the results of the shoot below and as always please see the following links for more information or get in touch to book your very own Photo Shoot!
