Adventuring with kids is by no means an easy task Adventuring with kids is by no means an easy task (As I’ve discovered myself over the last year and a half) but Katy & Jonny make it look pretty effortless and a whole lot of fun! I met these guys and their two gorgeous little ones last month for a Family Adventure Film + Photo Shoot at Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range in North Wales. Combining stills with film and hiking up a mountain capturing and creating special memories for families is very much my happy place right now! Being out with a family who are doing what they love, allows me to capture them at their most relaxed and happiest. There’s no ‘posing’ for the camera, no retakes, just a whole lot of intention behind what I’m aiming to capture and then allowing the morning to flow as it more or less would naturally. I feel it’s a sort of hybrid documentary approach! With a Family Adventure Film + Photo Shoot there is never any pressure to ‘reach the summit’ or have a big wow moment, it’s all about capturing time spent together as a family. Being in a beautiful location such as the Clwyd Mountains certainly gives us a stunning backdrop but your local woods can tell just as important a story for you as a family. I can promise you that there was absolutely nothing prompted or scripted about the dialogue between Katy & Lily at the end of the film. When Katy asks Lily what her favourite part of the morning has been and Lily replies, ‘being with you’ I realised this is literally the reason I’m making this move into both working more with families and incorporating filmmaking into my work. This is a moment that Katy will be able to relive and rewatch for the rest of her life and bring her right back to this moment. Yes, life with little ones can be chaotic, it’s full on and can feel overwhelming at times but these moments are what it’s all about. Being able to capture them and preserve them for a lifetime is what my Family Adventure Film + Photo Shoots aim to do. What exactly is a Family Adventure Shoot? 📸 🏔️ ♥️ What exactly is a Family Adventure Shoot? 📸 🏔️ ♥️ Do you love spending your family time adventuring together in the great outdoors? Does the sight of mountains approaching in the distance make your heart sing? Do you love plotting adventures for yourself and your little people? Whether you’re treasure hunting bugs, playing in the woods or flying down hillsides on two wheels I am here to capture & create the most precious of memories for you. My Film & Photo Shoots are as far from an overly posed studio session as you can get but leave you with a set of images & film that can be hung proudly on your walls & rewatched time & time again! My family adventure shoots are all about creating REAL, AUTHENTIC memories for you and your family. They don’t have to be filmed on the highest peaks, in fact you don’t even have to reach the peak! It’s about you as a family, connecting, having fun and doing what you love doing most. You’re just bringing me along for the ride! Check out Katy’s family photos which we shot as part of her Film & Photo shoot at the end of August on the well trodden paths of Moel Famau in North Wales. Having a 3 ½ year old and a 15 month old certainly changes the speed of an adventure but it makes the hot chocolate at the end taste even sweeter!
