The Standard Photo Shoot // 2024 Update

Mar 12, 2024 | Latest, Preparing for a Photo Shoot, Standard Shoot

The New Year is always when I get to take a breath, recap on the year past and prepare for the season ahead. I am always looking at tweaking what I offer and improving my services and this year has been no different! So, after many years of offering a 3-tier Photo Shoot system, I have decided to simplify things and reduce these down to two. These will now be the Mini & The Standard Photo Shoot!

Although this is all about the Standard Photo Shoot I thought I would recap what my Mini shoots are all about! In a nutshell, Mini shoots are designed to happen on specific days, in specific locations, sometimes with a theme. You can also organise one for 4 or more of your friends on a date that suits you at your yard or a location you love! They are a budget friendly way of creating memories for you to treasure for a lifetime & to have a fun day with your friends while you’re at it! They are also available as standalone shoots in the Winter months between November and the end of March.

My upcoming Mini Shoot days for 2024 are as follows:

March 24th // Chester // Dogs & their Humans
April 21st // Marbury Park, Cheshire // Horses, Dogs & Humans
May 30th // Formby Beach & Pine Woods // Horses, Dogs & Humans
June 23rd // Black Background Shoot // Venue TBC // Horses only
August 3rd or 5th // Cork, Ireland // Horses, Dogs & Humans
You can find out more HERE.

Now, back to the mane (pardon the pun!) event…  My Standard Photo Shoots (also known as Tail-Teller Sessions) are the full experience! You can now tailor them to add on services such as video to compliment your photographs, having your hair & makeup done on location and you can add fresh or dried bespoke flower crowns and garlands to your shoot for those finishing touches!

Video

This is suitable for everyone! Adding the element of video to your photo shoot ensures you’ve got every aspect of your bond with your horse captured and it creates some incredible memories to look back on over the years. With equipment that switches seamlessly between still and video, there’s no disruption to the flow of the photo shoot and your photos and video can be interwoven in post-production to create a short but beautiful few minutes of film. With the recent addition of a drone to my camera bag you really can get every angle covered and create some epic action shots as well as more intimate moments captured. With the addition of video I allow up to an extra hour for the Photo Shoot so we aren’t in a rush and can really get into the flow of things!

Hair & Make Up

I find most of my clients fall into two camps. Those who want their shoots as relaxed and true to life as possible (although swapping out your usual yard boots for something a little cleaner is usually a good idea!) 😉 and those who want to go all out!!

For the more casual shoot, people tend to go for outfits like jeans and a favourite shirt or jacket and keep their hair and makeup as natural as possible. Some even opt for no makeup if that’s what makes them feel most comfortable and I am always completely behind these decisions. There are misconceptions that you ‘have’ to wear makeup if you’re being photographed but that is not the case for natural light environmental portraiture (which if we’re going to get fancy about it is what I offer!) If you never wear make up then you’re not going to see a true reflection of yourself when you look back on your photos in years to come or might even feel uncomfortable with it on which is likely going to impact your confidence throughout the shoot. Having said that there are several hair and makeup artists who I work with who can create the most incredible natural looks which can be perfect for anyone casually hanging out with their horse in the forest!

However, my other group of clients are the ones who want to use their Photo Shoot as an opportunity to go all out and create a really unusual set of images celebrating themselves as well as their incredible bond with their horse and I absolutely love these sessions too. Ball gowns, Wedding dresses or an infrequently worn prom dress all add a different dimension to your Photo Shoot and create a set of completely unique photos for your memory bank! On these sessions having your hair and makeup done professionally can really add to the finished look and polish of your Photo Shoot experience. Your hair and makeup can be done at your home, on location or at the artist’s salon depending on the location, logistics and timings of your shoot. Whether your Photo Shoot is happening in Cheshire, Merseyside, Derbyshire, Lancashire, North Wales or Shropshire I have hair and makeup artists who can come and work with you and create a look perfectly tailored to your outfits.

Flowers

Again these might not be for the more casual, keeping things real clients. However, for those looking for that wow factor or if you’re going all out with your outfits and hair and makeup then a fresh or dried flower crown and/or wreath for your horse is the perfect finishing touch! Weather they’re fresh or dried, these flowers will always be tailor made for you by a local florist and designed to tie in with your outfits and photo shoot colour scheme. They are also yours to keep after the photo shoot.

What’s Included?

Included with a Standard Photo Shoot is a 2-3 hour long Photo Shoot at a location of your choosing. This could be your home, yard or a spot that you love. The first 50 miles of my travel from Chester is included and any extra miles can be added onto your session fee if necessary. You get a Pre Shoot Guide & Phone Consultation to make sure you’re fully prepared for your session and lots of advice on where to go, what to wear and how to prepare your horse. The editing and processing of all the best photos from the shoot is included as is your private viewing and ordering session where you can choose your very favourite image as a 10×8’’ Fine Art Print which will be framed in a style of your choosing and sent to you after your Viewing & Ordering appointment.

Investment

A Standard (Tail-Teller) Photo Shoot is £245.
A hair & make-up artist is usually £175 – this can vary depending on your location so sending me your post code is the best way to get an accurate quote.
A bespoke Flower crown is £75 and a matching garland for your horse is £145. (Combining both is £195.)
The addition of video is £195 & you will receive a fully edited 1-3 minute video to use, share & treasure as well as up to an extra hour of shooting.
All or any of this can be paid in instalments in the run up to your Photo Shoot. Simply get in touch for more details.

After your Photo Shoot

At your Viewing & Ordering appointment you can order any prints or products once you have seen the results of your Photo Shoot and decided what you would like to do with your images. You can see some examples of the products I offer on my ‘Make your House a Home’ page.

A Standard Photo Shoot with your Horse is often a once in a lifetime experience and will leave you with a set of images you might never have thought possible. All my sessions come with the peace of mind of my promise of excellence* and lifetime guarantees** on all your prints and products.

If you are dreaming about your ideal Standard Photo Shoot then I would love to hear from you! I am always happy to have a no-obligation chat about any ideas you might have and can answer any questions about the Photo Shoot itself or what happens afterwards. Please just get in touch or book in for a chat here.

Let’s make those Photo Shoot dreams a reality in 2024!
