Let’s Talk: Mini Photo Shoots

Feb 19, 2026 | Featured Shoots, Latest, Mini Shoot Days

#1 What is a Mini Shoot?

I’m now taking MINI SHOOT bookings for February & March 2026! 📸

What is a Mini Shoot you might be asking…? 🤔

In a nutshell a Mini Photo Shoot is a slightly shorter version of a Standard Shoot!

I offer them as ‘stand-alone’ sessions in the more wintery months (November through to the end of March). Meaning you can book one as and when and where suits you or as part of a Shoot Day throughout the year (at a specific location ie. your yard or the beach) with 3 or more friends. 🌳

My travel is included (25 miles from Chester for a standalone or 50 miles for a Shoot Day). 🚗

You will receive a ‘How to Prepare for your Session’ Guidebook and a preshoot phone consultation before your shoot and an online Photo Viewing appointment afterwards. 📞

A Mini Photo Shoot is the perfect option for updating your Photo collection, adding a new family member to your wall, getting a feel for what a Photo Shoot is all about or simply having a more budget-conscious photo shoot experience. ❤️

Did you know your Photo Shoot doesn’t have to be outside? I also offer in-home family sessions or we can make it a nice cosy stable shoot! 🏡

The investment: £145 for a Standalone Mini Shoot or £125 for a Shoot Day session (minimum 4 bookings). 💰

#2 Why have a Mini Shoot…?

Memories 🧡 Memories 💚 Memories ➕ budget! ❣️

This past year has been such a whirlwind for me personally and it has made me fall in love with photography and filmmaking all over again. Already looking back over the many many memories captured of Otis in his first year of life is an emotional rollercoaster and I know these will only feel more precious as time goes on. 💗

I have a mix of professional photos, some from when he was 2 weeks old which I am so incredibly grateful for as I did not have the capacity to get my own camera out for a little while and obviously a lot that I’ve taken myself! I’ve framed some, made photo books and filled my phone several times over sharing them with family and friends. Of course there are plenty of day to day snaps on my phone which have their place but the ones I want to frame and hang on the wall to look at every day are the ones taken by professional photographers or myself. 📷

I’ve tried every month to do a ‘micro’ shoot with Otis to capture him at each different stage as he develops and grows at what feels like lightning speed! These photos have been an investment, either with my own time, energy and (sometimes props… hello Halloween and Christmas!) or financially with the professional photos I’ve had taken but they are, in my eyes, completely priceless. ✨

It’s so easy to let these things slip and a month, year or more rolls by but I am so grateful to my newly postpartum and subsequently (at times, extremely) tired self that I have made these shoots happen. My mini shoots are at their heart an opportunity to create a more budget-conscious way of filling your home with precious memories. Whether the photo shoot is of your child, horse, dog, whole family or simply you and your horse, you won’t look back and regret your decision to have a photo shoot. I promise! 💖

#3 What does a Mini Shoot look like? 📸

I explained that above that, in a nutshell, a Mini Photo Shoot is a slightly shorter version of a Standard Shoot! So what does that actually look like? 🤔

It can be a number of things. My Standard Shoot includes an approximately 2-hour-long photo shoot, whereas with a Mini Shoot we tend to wrap things up around the hour-long mark. This can in fact be beneficial when working with younger children or when it’s particularly cold (think snow shoots!) It can also work really well for sessions where you’re just looking for portraits of your Horse (think Black background portraits) or your Dog. 👶❄️🐶

If you’re after a nice and simple Horse & Rider shoot with one horse and one outfit, a Mini shoot can also work well and if a family shoot is set in one location, then we can create a lovely variety of images, combinations of family members and some big beautiful group shots in an hour! 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

I’ve put together a selection of images from Martha’s Mini Photo Shoot which was shot in early March a few years ago. I am particularly proud of this Mini Shoot as not only was it case of working with ‘children & animals’ but I went on to win an award for the 2nd image in the collection below. 💖

If you are considering a Mini Shoot, I would love to hear from you or if you have a voucher to book please get in touch as I’m running a limited diary this Spring & Summer.
